Black and Brown Suede Sandals on juliettelaura.blogspot.com

Stars are popping up everywhere for Spring. This dreamy, ethereal print is one trend I can definitely get behind. Paired with suede, layered on gold, and a mix of black and brown.

I had the pleasure of attending the Yuna Yang AW17 New York Fashion Week show this past February. The colors and textures of the collection were so exciting. So much fun detail and lush texture. Belted trenches, delicate velvet slips, beaded lace and feather embellishment, sleeve details, strappy shiny shoes. I absolutely adored the model's hair clipped back the way that it was. Live music at the end of the show was also such a nice aspect.

This February I had the honor of attending Saku New York's AW NYFW show (with my fashion/life guru Nicole) backstage as a photographer to capture the models getting ready and then as a guest to watch the runway show.

The energy backstage was vibrant and it was so fun seeing a sneak peek of the looks, and watching the hair and makeup magic happen. I think such a cool part of FW is not only the apparel trend forecasting but the beauty trend forecasting as well. Pink under-eye makeup was huge, paired with 'bleached' eyebrows, and dewy highlighted skin. I love it!

I absolutely adore the collection- the colors and all of the details are incredible. I loved the pastels paired with black. The details and subtle pops of texture make the collection wear-able but so special. I snapped some of the looks during the pre-show walk through and then during the show as well. I've included some of my favorites here.

Something that struck me, and that I seriously respected, was the diversity in this show- so many designers use all white models... with maybe one token minority thrown in. However Lissa Ku and her team did an incredible job of representing all different types of women in this show. I think it is so important and powerful for an emerging designer to take this stance and set the tone for their career as one of inclusivity.

The concept for the show was so well executed;

"Saku New York's AW17 collection grew out of a curiosity
for sea creatures which are barely visible to the human eye.
Beneath the clear, emerald blue surface of the ocean,
it is all about the dark, cold and quiet.
This inspired the collection's main colors:
Black, Emerald Blue and Pink.
The designs have simple patterns
yet contain frills so that one can see the movement in the garment.
The velvet material reflects the color of sparkling sand".
